Try identifying these chords before looking at the answers. In each case you will be told the key(scale), as you would in the Grade 5 exam. In some of the later cases, some of the chord notes are doubled up to give 4 or 5 note chords, to more closely represent how these questions are are posed in the exam.
If the key note is in the chord, it must be either I or IV if it’s not, it must be II of V.
Looking at the shape of the chord, identify it as “a” (all thirds) “b” (interval of a third at bottom), “c” (interval of a third at the top). If “a” root of chord is at bottom, if “b” root at top, if “c” root in middle.
Accidentals when key signature given means V chord
